Drop-in Centres open to the public
The Leisure Centres at Cardigan and Plascrug, Aberystwyth are open today until 10pm opened for members of the public who wish to call by, or stay a while in order to keep warm, have a shower or charge their mobile phones if they have been without power for some time. There will be a warm drink awaiting you. Several members of Ceredigion County Council staff have volunteered to assist at these centres, and there will be a warm welcome there for you. The Offices at Penmorfa, Aberaeron are also open for warm drinks and an opportunity for you to charge your mobile phones. Aberystwyth Justice Centre sentences two for severe animal welfare violations
On 06 November at Aberystwyth Justice Centre, Ms. Rosie Crees and Mr. John Morgan were sentenced for 8 offences each under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. They failed to meet the needs of over 500 sheep across two holdings. The sheep were deprived of a continuous supply of fresh, clean drinking water. Additionally, the sheep suffered from untreated lameness, a painful condition that affects their ability to walk and graze. Many were kept in sheds with accumulations of manure of several feet, to the extent the animals heads were touching the shed roof.15/11/2024
