New nutrient monitoring dashboard transforms Teifi River protection

Led by Ceredigion County Council in collaboration with the West Wales Nutrient Management Board (WWNMB), the Teifi Nutrient Monitoring (TNM) project has unveiled its groundbreaking nutrient management sensor dashboard, a first of its kind, now live on the Council’s website.

Ceredigion business pleads guilty to nine food hygiene offences

Mrs Sheena Thomas and Mr Eifion Thomas of Golwg y Môr, Wauntrefalau, Tanygroes, Cardigan, pleaded guilty to nine food hygiene offences before Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre on 12 November 2024. The case was brought forward by Ceredigion County Council’s Public Protection Team.

Beware of rogue traders cashing in after the storm

Ceredigion County Council Public Protection’s Trading Standards Service is issuing a warning to residents to watch out for unscrupulous traders who may prey on them during bad weather. When extreme weather hits Wales including Ceredigion, as we have seen over the last few days, legitimate traders are in high demand. The recent bout of bad weather, has left many householders with damage to their properties. Unfortunately, weather conditions like these present an opportunity for rogue traders to take advantage of many householders.

Drop-in Centres open to the public

The Leisure Centres at Cardigan and Plascrug, Aberystwyth are open today until 10pm opened for members of the public who wish to call by, or stay a while in order to keep warm, have a shower or charge their mobile phones if they have been without power for some time. There will be a warm drink awaiting you. Several members of Ceredigion County Council staff have volunteered to assist at these centres, and there will be a warm welcome there for you. The Offices at Penmorfa, Aberaeron are also open for warm drinks and an opportunity for you to charge your mobile phones. We are also working to arrange provision in the Lampeter area, and we will be sharing further information in due course.

A Red wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for Ceredigion which is valid from 03:00 to 11:00 on Saturday 07 December, 2024. The Met Office forecast that gusts of 90mph or more are to be expected on Saturday morning.

Other Voices Cardigan celebrates record attendances on its most successful edition to date

Other Voices Cardigan 2024 producers’ reported record figures across the event's fifth edition earlier this month. Aberystwyth Justice Centre sentences two for severe animal welfare violations

On 06 November at Aberystwyth Justice Centre, Ms. Rosie Crees and Mr. John Morgan were sentenced for 8 offences each under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. They failed to meet the needs of over 500 sheep across two holdings. The sheep were deprived of a continuous supply of fresh, clean drinking water. Additionally, the sheep suffered from untreated lameness, a painful condition that affects their ability to walk and graze. Many were kept in sheds with accumulations of manure of several feet, to the extent the animals heads were touching the shed roof.

Tenders invited for Cylch Caron

Following Cabinet’s approval on 17 July 2024, tenders are invited for a Delivery Partner who will work with the Council and Health Board to deliver a new fully-integrated health, social care and housing centre, Cylch Caron in Tregaron. It is expected that the Delivery Partner will be tendering a design and build contract during 2025.

Ceredigion man to be sentenced for infringing Trademarks and selling counterfeit DVDs

Following a complex investigation by Ceredigion County Council Public Protection’s Trading Standards Team, supported by the Council’s legal team, David R Thomas, 47, of Sarnau Ceredigion appeared in Swansea Crown Court on Friday 05 July 2024, and pleaded guilty to trademark offences.
